Why Aero exists

Email can be lighter than this.

Aero is built on a simple belief: your attention belongs to you, and software should act accordingly.

Our point of view

The inbox isn’t broken. Its assumptions are.

Email treats every sender as equally urgent, every message as a task, and every teammate as someone who needs another forwarded copy.

We’re building Aero to change those assumptions. New senders ask permission. Different kinds of mail get different rooms. Collaboration happens beside the thread. AI earns access one feature at a time.

The triage model is not ours. 37signals shipped the Screener, the Feed and the Paper Trail in HEY in 2020 and got it right. What they could not do was bring it to the two billion mailboxes whose owners cannot change their address. That is the part we are building.

The result isn’t “inbox zero.” It’s an inbox that knows its place.

What we hold to

Three commitments, in order.

01

Attention is finite.

We design for fewer interruptions, calmer defaults, and clear stopping points.

02

Privacy is structural.

Good intentions aren’t enough. Data boundaries belong in schemas, permissions, and tests.

03

Credit is cheap to give.

We say where our ideas came from, and where other products beat us. It costs nothing, and it is the only way to be believed about anything else.

Your inbox can feel different.

Keep the email address you already have. Aero adds the front door.
